I Can Fly by Denny Lynn

Yesterday at gymnastics we got to fly! They put this belt on you and when you jump on the trampoline you get to fly way up in the air! I loved it. I got a little too high for a minute and was kind of worried, but then I came down laughing. I even helped all the other kids take the belt off after they flew. We don't get to do this every week, but I can't wait to do it again!

Multi-Purpose PJs by Denny Lynn

So - I have issues with keeping my socks on and most the time my feet feel like little blocks of ice. Mama and Grandma got me big boy footie pajamas to try to deter me from running around barefoot in the cold. It works pretty good - especially the ones with the "no-men" on them. It has been educational as well - I have learned to work the zipper up and down. The best thing about these pjs is they double as a big pocket. Since I believe in being prepared, I pack a variety of things to go from room to room. For instance last night I had my book in one leg, then I took some items from my workbench - a piece of play wood, a nut and bolt, the hammer - and put them down the other leg. To top it all off I added my little basketball and zipped it up! You have to walk real slow with a hammer in your pants, but it is convenient!

One Month Old by John Lee

So as of Saturday I am officially one month old! With age comes wisdom you know, so I am figuring out the world. I weigh 10 lbs 4 oz now - that is almost 2 whole lbs more than when I was born. I like having cool things to look at. Denny even lets me use his mat with the fish toys to keep myself entertained. I am staying awake more during the day and sleeping in blocks of time at night, which makes Mama happy. Life is good at one month and only getting better!

A Day in Mama’s Life by Denny Lynn

(if throw up, poop and boogers make you queasy, stop reading now) I want to share a little bit about Mama’s day – Mama decided we should share because we know many of you will find it funny and the fellow moms will commiserate. Today, Mama’s day started at 12:30 am feeding John. He had just dozed off when I crawled in bed between her and Daddy because I didn’t feel well. For the next few hours she was awake on and off moving me back parallel to her and Daddy (I like sleeping crossways, but for some reason she didn’t like me kicking my brother or her). About 3:00 she fed John again. Just has he dozed off this time, I got really sick and threw up all over me and the pillow (extra load of laundry #1 & #2). Daddy put stuff in the washroom and Mama took me into the bathroom to clean me off – on the plus side, I got to put on my Elmo shirt. I was then ready to play. Since Daddy had to go to work, Mama took me and John into the living room. I think she really just wanted to watch one of my Thomas the Tank Engine movies – which she did three times before I fell asleep on the loveseat. She then fed John again and dozed off, before waking up at 5:00 am to feed John again. She rounded out with about 4 hours sleep – that isn’t so bad, just because it wasn’t all in one lump really shouldn’t mean anything. I got up at 7:00 am – just in time for Daddy to fix me breakfast – at which time Mama selfishly denied me milk and sausage and insisted I have toast and 7Up. The next time I threw up Mama got me to the trashcan – no extra laundry. She then let me have one of my favorite cinnamon mints. She didn’t realize I had a box I could open and honestly, I lost count of how many I ate. This time when I threw up it was a nice shade of red (I mean really red). Mama was feeding John at the time, so didn’t get to me quick enough, luckily most of it landed on the pillow (extra load of laundry #3) and she cleaned the spots on the carpet to a pretty shade of pink. She then decided it was time for a shower. Of course, if she is showering I have to shower with her. I was good and clean when the hot water started to run out, but Mama finished her shower with the cold water. Then we gave John a bath. Mama took his clothes off and then warmed enough water for him. Before she could get him in, he pooped. A nice watery poop down Mama’s pajamas, the bathroom cabinet and the monkey rug (extra load of laundry #4), barely missing me, but I am pretty sure he didn’t do it on purpose – although he could just be jealous that I was getting so much attention. I wanted to help with John’s bath so I climbed up on my stool, but the counter was wet where Mama had wiped up the poop, so I slipped and bumped my nose. So now John is screaming in the tub and I am screaming on the floor – Mama ended up holding me and bathing John at the same time. Finally she had me and John dressed to meet Daddy for lunch before taking Nolie to the vet to get her stitches out (this is because for some strange reason, Mama had thought it would be a good idea to get Nolie surgery while she was home on maternity leave- go figure). Mama let me have some Pringles to tide me over. While I was in my chair at the dining room table, Mama noticed the rather large booger protruding from my nose. She got most of it with a tissue (me fighting her the entire time) and I finished it off. The lesson here: there is no reason to pick your nose when you can actually stretch your tongue far enough to reach inside and clean it out. We went for Chinese (it took 40 minutes to get our food – so I needed some entertaining). Daddy taught me to play the drums with the chopsticks. Then it was time to take Nolie to the vet. Leaving the restaurant, Mama strapped John in, got in and backed out, then the door slammed because she had forgotten to close it – I guess she was tired or something. All things considered, Mama had a great day! After all – she got to spend it with me, but I have a feeling if I make it tonight without throwing up I am going to Darcy’s tomorrow and Mama will be taking a nap – after she washes the rest of the laundry! The good news – her hormones must be balancing out, but cause she didn’t even cry today – although, the days not over yet! Nothing like a day in the life of a Mama – especially my Mama!

Happy Birthday, Etienne by John Lee

Got dressed up on Saturday to go to a party for cousin Etienne. Had a full bottle of milk and a long nap. Got cuddled by nice people. Think the whole party thing is overrated, but all in all it was a good day.

Happy Birthday, Etienne by Denny Lynn

Cousin Etienne is one whole year old! Mama took me and John to his birthday party on Saturday. It was way fun. Etienne let us play with his ride on toys – and I hung out with Nathan and Jacob. He had a caterpillar cake with individual sections for everyone. We got to fix our own! I picked blue frosting and green sprinkles for mine. Etienne and I even shared Diet Coke with Uncle Rex. I think John had fun, too hanging out with Uncle Rex, Aunt Lynette and Denise. I wanted to help open presents, but Mama says I have to wait until my own birthday for that. Wish all my cousins could have been there, but I am glad we got to go!

3 Weeks Old by John Lee

I am three weeks old! It has been a busy three weeks – first with Christmas, then New Years – then I got to go to a reception for the Extension Conference. I went to church – then went back to see the Stamps. I have been to the doctor (twice) to get circumcised and have a checkup. I have gained an entire pound since I was born – I know weigh 9 lbs 6 oz and grew and inch to be 21 inches long. My 0-3 clothes are starting to fit better than the Newborn stuff. I have met lots of new people and played with my Big Brother. I can’t wait to see what the next three weeks hold!

I’m a Gymnast by Denny Lynn

For weeks I have been going to gymnastics with Ms. Darcy and watching the big kids do all the cool stuff. This week, Mama came and I got to do all the stuff! We did stretches, somersaults, pull-ups and flip overs – we even got to swing on the rings – I wanted to swing on the high ones, but I made do with the low ones. Mama helped me on the balance beam. I really like the trampoline. I did great for my first time – especially for being the youngest. I get to be a member and do it every week now! I am so excited!

Singin’ With the Stamps by Denny Lynn

Mama and Daddy took me and John to see the Stamps Quartet at our church. I love the music. I clapped along and even danced a little (don’t tell the pastor!) It was a fun family outing for us!

Lovin’ Life by John Lee

Life is good! I am eating constantly and take a little time to play. Then I can rest. I mostly like to rest when someone is holding me. Grandma has come back to visit and that was really fun. My big brother takes good care of me and I am spending lots of time with my Mama and Daddy. Life just keeps getting better.

My 1st Bath by John Lee

So some things are a little over rated. Denny loves bath time, but I have to say I don’t get it. My belly button fell off, so Mama gave me my first bath. Denny even helped. It wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be. Maybe I need to invest in more toys. I have had a few more since then, and while it is improving, I am still pretty sure bath time is not my favorite thing.

Happy Birthday, Mama! by Denny Lynn

Me, Daddy and John surprised Mama for her birthday with roses and a special cake. It even had candles on it. I really wanted to blow out the candles – it was hard to wait for Mama to get ready. Daddy had to relight them twice so she could make a wish. I know Mama had a Happy Birthday, because she had her three special guys with her.
