2014 Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser by Denny Lynn

I have been waiting and waiting for Jog-a-thon! This was our school fundraiser. You get people to donate money, either by lap or in a flat amount. My goal was to raise $100 and get a t-shirt. Our class needed to raise $500 to get a pizza pary.
We are ready!
And they're off!
I kept going and going - I had originally set a goal of 20 laps and I did 22!

My teacher gave me a mark every time I made a lap.

It was hard work, but I made it!
PTO rewarded us with water and fruit cups!
Our class had a well deserved rest.
I met all my goals! Thank you to everyone that supported our school! My class got a pizza party, too!

And Still More Fair Stuff by Denny Lynn

Finishing up fair projects is fun, but it  makes me a little sad that we won't have projects to work on everyday! I think my favorite project this year was a robot made from a tin can and kit. I was very precise laying out all the parts following the instructions.

He came out great! We even found a Pepsi can so he could be blue!

I couldn't wait to try him out!
I also like using the spray paint. I got to paint cans for a windchime.

Then I used a hammer and nail to poke a hole in the top of each one.

Finally, a little string and some bells...
...and you have a windchime!
We decided our decorated shirts would be for Halloween this year. I picked a big circle with my initials.
The material is orange with witches, cats and bats all over it.
We used stencils to make my letters perfect!

I got to peel the backing off, but Mama had to do the ironing to make it stick.
Then a layer of shiny fabric paint and done!

Next came leather stamping. I had done this at 4-H, but it was better at home where I had time to really think about what I wanted to put on my pieces.
I made a cross and a heart.
I made peanut butter fudge for the Baked Goods Show. I like doing stuff in the kitchen. I measured...
...and got to use the stove to melt stuff.

You really have to stay on top of things when you are melting stuff. I put it into the pan...
...spread it evenly and let it set! Tada...Fudge!
We like to make a vegetable display - this one it tricky, because you can't make it too early. This year I made a snowman from white pumpkins.

We used dowel rods to put them together.

We used toothpicks for all the add ons...
Radish eyes, potato buttons...

...broccoli hair, a lettuce scarf and a carrot mouth.

We used a real hat and fall leaves for his arms. He came out pretty neat!
I counted out pecans to enter in the Agriculture Department.
Excited that the fair is finally here!
