We made our summer trip to Oklahoma this June to celebrate Uncle Jeff's wedding and see our family. It was a great trip - the wedding is its own story, so we will do a post just for it, but we had lots of other fun, too. We started off getting our snacks ready!
Mama got us each a plastic craft box with compartments and we got to pick our own snacks for the road.We had Cheetos, raisins, granola bars, crackers, fruit snacks, Froot Loops, nuts and other stuff. It was fun to pick our own!
We try to break up the trip and do fun stuff on the way. We played hide and seek at one of our favorite rest stops, just over the Oklahoma border.
I would always give Daddy away!
Denny tried to hide in some strange places - that tree is way too little!
I even went up a tree (with Daddy's help), but I was laughing so hard, I gave myself away!
We make some stops at the fun western wear stores on the way. Denny found these cool boots - Daddy liked the boots, but not the price!
Our new Aunt Emily gave Denny some piano lessons and let us play her keyboard while we were there.
We had a really fun afternoon at the part with Cousin Jasper! We were so excited to see him and to play on the great playground stuff.
I liked sitting on the yellow for the Merry Go Round.
And we climbed to the top of the rock wall - it was really high!
Then we fed the ducks! The three amigos on the go!
We also stopped to play awhile with Granny Sharon....
Then we made a special stop to pay our respects to family that are gone.
We took flowers for Granny Nellie, who we miss very much. She died when I was a baby.
We spent some time with Nana and Papa and showed them pictures of all the stuff we have been doing.
It was a busy few days - you will see in more posts. The drive home was long, but we found some fun along the way...
...and rested up.
And we made our final Braums stop before leaving Oklahoma. Braum's (or pink ice cream, as I call it) is one of our favorite things and a special treat we only get when we go to Oklahoma. We ate there five times in four days.
But, I love it - just look at that face!
It is so wonderful to get to spend time with our family in Oklahoma. I hope we can go back soon!
