The Lone Ranger by Denny Lynn

I love the Lone Ranger. We watch all the old episodes on TV, and even some of the old movies. Mama found these great accessories to make me a Lone Ranger costume.

We had everything else we needed to pull it all together.

I wanted to try everything on and let Dunny get used to it in case I ever needed to ride as the Lone Ranger.

He didn't mind the mask at all!

Finally, it was Halloween! Since Daddy was out of town, Mama took us to Grandma and Grandpa's to Trick or Treat. We got all dressed up - Me as the Lone Ranger and John as Tonto. We started at Ma and Pa's.

 Then we walked over to some of the neighbors.

 We loaded up in the van to trunk or treat at Grandma's church.

 Since there are lots of neighborhoods by the church, we walked to more houses.

 Everyone loved out costumes!

 It was even more fun because Uncle Shawn and Aunt Tabby came to see us!

What a great Halloween!

Operation Christmas Child by John Lee

Each year we make up shoeboxes to be sent to other countries for kids who don't get Christmas. We save up stuff all year and get some new stuff too - like socks and toothbrushes. We add some soap and some hard candy, too.

I love putting my box together and know that it will make another little boy very happy. I am very particular about what goes into it.

Denny and I got it all boxed up and ready to send off. Then we took them to church to be sent off. What a blessing to share our blessings!

Animal Research Report by Denny Lynn

We got to select an animal to research at school. I told Mama I wanted to do horses (this was great, because we already had a horse costume, and we got to dress like our animal). Unfortunately, when it came time to choose, there weren't any horse books, so I picked a dolphin. I loved learning about their habitat, appearance, family, diet and some interesting facts. The hardest part was finding a dolphin costume. Mama and me ended up having to make it. We found a rubber dolphin nose and that helped.

We used felt and a gray hooded sweatshirt for the rest.

I helped cut out and glue.

It came out pretty cool!

Finally, it was time to present. We made waves from a display board with my notes on the back for an outline. Mama downloaded a dolphin sound onto the iPad that I used in my opening and closing remarks.

Everyone loved my presentation. I was kind of glad Mama made me practice so much! All the families stayed for lunch after the presentations.

 Later, Mama and John came back for our class Halloween party.

 It was a fun day - I was an awesome dolphin! I can't wait to see what I get to research next!

Red Ribbon Week by Denny Lynn

Red Ribbon week is about learning to say no to drugs. Drugs can hurt you. We get to dress up everyday to remember not to use drugs.

*Just FYI - if you can't find the colored hairspray you want, dry erase marker works great!

Team Up Against Drugs: Favorite Team Day - I picked Uncle Jeff's team.

And finally, Our Futures are Too Bright to Do Drugs: Dress like what you want to be when you grow up. I dressed like a Fairacres teacher/coach. I don't really know what I want to be when I grow up, but a teacher seemed as good as anything.

Halloween Treats by John Lee

Everybody doesn't do Halloween - but we do! I like to take treats for my friends at school. This year we made popcorn snack mix.

First you put the popcorn in the bag.

Then you add some yummy trail mix.

Mama helped seal them all up and I added a label that said "Happy Fall" from: John.

The treats were a hit! Several of my friends have asked me to bring them more!

4-H Meeting by John Lee

We had a great 4-H Meeting in October! We took the snack and it was a snack mix bar with popcorn, pretzels, raisins and other yummy stuff to make your own snack.

I got to do my presentation on growing pumpkins for the whole club.

Did did his dolphin presentation. It was good practice for school. Holly and Eli taught us some stuff, too!

We have such a fun bunch in our club. I can't wait until next year when I can do everything.

Fairacres Fall Festival by Denny Lynn

Fall Festival only comes once a year, so we have to make the most of it! The 1st graders and Kindergartners partnered on a Haunted House. Mama and I helped take tickets. I took tickets, but I wouldn't go in! I got to wear my Lone Ranger costume out in public for the first time!

We played in the bounce houses and with all kinds of games!

Holly was Alice from Wonderland! I was so glad to see her.

Eli was a Ninja! Mama told John Tonto couldn't jump in the bounce house, so he came as Iron Man.

We are a good looking and creative crew!

We had a costume parade with a contest! I was a winner for the K-3rd grade category.

John got a yellow bat painted on his face instead of doing the contest.

We had some fun at the photo booth.

And walked for cakes - cupcakes that is!

We even found a craft project and colored skulls.

It was a fun night and I didn't want it to end! I can't wait to hang out with my friends at the next Fall Festival!
