Halloween Jockey Style by John Lee

I love being a jockey - I tried to change my costume the day before Halloween, but when the time came I suited up and set out for a fun time!

I was the best looking jockey ever! Everywhere we went people said how cute and original we were.

We started out at Ms. Darcy's church and I was very glad to see Holly and Eli! We took a hayride together!

Then it was time for games - we started out with donuts! MY FAVORITE! We had to bite the donut on the string with no hands.

I had a little help, but I got my donut! Then I got to eat it!

I walked on the numbers for the cake walk and won a yellow cupcake!

I picked a yellow duck to win a prize.

Denny and I went fishing in the pond...

...and I spun the wheel to be a winner.

We tried the ring toss, aiming for pumpkin stems - Eli and I can throw really far!

Then we golfed for candy - I was a really good shot.

The college kids had balloons to pop with darts and they really liked us and gave us big handfuls of candy for our pumpkins!

After all the fun games and visits with friends, we headed over to see Uncle Rex and Aunt Lynette.

I picked a cupcake for snack!

Then it was down the street for real trick or treating. We rang doorbells and knocked on doors and I was only a little afraid of the dark and one big blow up cat - but I braved it for candy!

Then I played tractor jockey for awhile!

Just as we were leaving Etienne and Emerick came by and brought us treats. I wish we had had more time to play! It was such a fun night, but it had to end, so we headed home to go back to being just John and Denny, but I am already thinking about what I will be next year!

Halloween is finally here! I was so excited about trick or treating and wearing my jockey costume I could hardly stand it!

First, we headed to the Trunk or Treat at Ms. Darcy's church.

I took Secretariat with me.

We even went on a hayride with Holly and Eli. I was glad to see them and Ms. Darcy!

Holly showed us where to go to bite the donuts! The donuts were on string and  you had to get a bite with no hands!

It was really fun!

Next it was off to the cake walk! We walked while the music played and once it stopped, if they called your number you won a cupcake!

I picked an "almost" blue one.

We got tattoos on our hands - they had jack-o-lanterns on them!

Then it was off to the outdoor games! We picked a duck for a prize...

....busted a balloon for candy....

...played golf with Ms. Jennifer....

...and busted a balloon with a dart. This was a good game, because the college kids were in charge and they gave out big handfuls of candy!

J was in charge of the Angry Birds game - we had to catapult the bird into a wall of blocks. We had so much fun with all the games and seeing our friends.

Then it was off to Uncle Rex and Aunt Lynette's. I really wanted to trick or treat at a house this year, so we headed over to their house. Aunt Lynette had cookies and cupcakes for us.

And she even let me hand out candy to the trick or treaters.

Then we walked down their block to trick or treat ourselves!

Our final stop was Miss Amy's house to say Happy Halloween and get more candy. We were pretty tired my this point!

It was a very successful night, filled with friends, family and lots of laughter, but it made for two very tired jockey's! But on the way home, we were already planning for next year!

Halloween Treats by Denny Lynn

Yea for Halloween! Mama found a fun new treat for us to make my friends! I made skeletons. We used pre-made stuff and just put them all together. The base was a brownie square to make it stand up.

Next came white chocolate pretzels for the body to look like bones. Finally, we used edible markers to make faces on marshmallows for the skulls!

It all gets stacked nicely in the bag!

And then you have a skeleton! We added tags that said "No Bones About It, We Want You to Have a Happy Halloween". We made an entire legion of skeletons to share!

I took a whole box to school and got to put them in each classmates lunch box for them to take home - then we took one for Holly, Eli, Patrick and CJ as well as the cousins.

Mama also surprised us with a Halloween treat lunch! We had jack-o-lantern sandwiches and oranges! What a fun day of treats!

Halloween Treats by John Lee

We love making treats for our friends! This year we had even more friends to make for since we have whole classes, plus our other friends and cousins. Mama found some easy ideas on Pinterest for us to do. I made Mummies out of Hershey Bars. We had little bars for my friends and big bars for my teachers.

We took white streamers and wrapped each bar like a mummy.

Then we added eyes and stickers that say "Have a Mummy-rific Halloween".

I was really good at putting on the stickers.

They came out very cute. I really liked them - I wanted to run around with them yelling "Coin, Coin" like the mummy on Scooby Doo.

We packed them all up in a bucket to take to school. Everyone loved them and I was excited to have treats to give out.
