Hot Days and Cool Treats by Denny Lynn

Summer is here! At least it feels like it - we have already been over 95 degrees here! Better yet, it tastes like summer! I am super excited to have cool treats on hot days - of course ice cream is a must! I am still a big fan of vanilla and the taster cones at Caliche's are just the right size for me and John!
The best thing is ice pops! I finally got to pick some out at the store. (Mama says they are popsicles, but I know from Special Agent OSo they are really ice pops!) I like the green and blue ones best. My first one of summer was green and it was dee-lish-uss!
John had a red one and he really liked it, even with a little sand mixed in!
It was fun to go outside and have my ice pop - without a holder because I am a big boy this year - and let it turn my tongue green! Watch out summer - here we come!

Our Baby Animal Field Trip by John Lee

To finish our our baby animal theme for the month of April, we took a field trip to Mama's office (sort of). Her office is by the sheep pens on campus, so we went there to see the lambs. They are so cute!
I really wanted to get close - I even tried to climb in the pen!
Mama was able to get a little black and white one for us to pet. I wanted to squeeze him!
Denny wanted to hold him before Mama put him away.
Eli was my walking buddy when we went to see the calves.
There was only one baby calf, but we all agreed he was pretty neat.
We finished off our tour with a visit to Aggie Pond to check out the turtles. It was a fun trip and I was glad to show my friends all the animals.

The Many Faces of John by John Lee

Mama got some new pictures from Ms. Darcy, so we thought we would introduce you to my many faces and moods.
The "Seriously, You are putting me in Time Out" Face
The Silly Boy!
The "Can't You See I Am Working on this Tricycle" Face
Where's John?
The "But Look How Sweet I Am" Dirty Face
The "I'm Not Up to Anything" Face
And finally...The HAPPY FACE!

Don't Bug Me! by Denny Lynn

One afternoon after he had done a program, Mr. Sam came by and let us see his really cool bugs - however, I learned that they are not bugs, they are insects (I enlightened Mama on this as soon as she picked me up). He had all kinds of really cool stuff, including a tarantula!
John liked the millipede ok, but once he figured out the insects weren't for eating he lost interest! I loved them all!
There were beautiful butterflies to see, and more big spiders! We didn't get to pet those.
I did get to hold a giant hissing cockroach - he was really cool! I am so glad Sam came to see us and play - I really liked learning all about insects!

The Lollipop Guild by John Lee

Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow the Yellow Brick Road....I am one ticked off munchkin!

A Boy and His Box by Denny Lynn

Some of you will remember that when I was little I played baby in a box with my Daddy. Some things you don't out grow! We got this box the other day and it is great! It is big enough to get into with room for Teddy and a pillow, too!
It makes a swell place to watch tv. I even have it all cozy for nap time. The best thing about my new box is there is no room for little brothers! It is just for me!

I'm a Mess by John Lee

After Mama had been gone one weekend, Daddy told her we needed to put locks on the cabinets. I know Mama was thinking - "Why do we need to do that". I recently helped Daddy prove his point! I like this cabinet because it has lots of fun stuff in it. As a matter of fact, I store my bacon bits and sprinkles in here. I am always finding something new. I guess the final straw for Mama was when I found the spaghetti noodles.
To be fair, I picked them up and put most of them back. It wasn't until after she swept them up the second time that Mama acrtually tied the door shut with a bandana. No more cabinet exploring, I wonder what I can get into next.
